Veterans for Diehl; Diehl Announces Plan for Veterans

Whitman, MA … Today Representative Geoff Diehl (R-Whitman), candidate for U.S. Senate, proudly announced Veterans for Diehl and his Real Diehl Plan to assist veterans.

“I am honored to stand here with these brave veterans who put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms. I am thrilled that they are supporting my candidacy for the U.S. Senate and I plan to work tirelessly on their behalf, once elected,” said Diehl who is the first candidate to announce a major coalition.

“We need to honor the men and women who have sacrificed so much to protect our country. With a 21st Century battlefield, I believe it is important to have a plan of action in the Senate. That’s why today I am unveiling our plan to assist our veterans. They need a Senator who will commit to serve them,” said Diehl.

Diehl is the only candidate Democrat or Republican to have a plan for assisting veterans. His extensive plan includes: expanding treatment programs for opioid addiction, increasing mental health care providers, ensuring veterans have better access to care, creating an independent watchdog group to inspect VA treatment facilities, fixing the statute of medical malpractices suits for veterans, increase women’s health based practitioners, allow veterans to receive college credit for their service, and increasing funding for homeless veterans.

“Veterans transitioning back to civilian life often face significant barriers. My plan will help the men and women transitioning back from the front lines, who are facing these many challenges. As the next U.S. Senator, I am confident that we can improve the delivery of services to our veterans,” said Diehl. “To accomplish these goals, it will take a full-time Senator not a part-time senator, part time author and part time presidential candidate.”

“Unlike Senator Warren, I will be there for our veterans. Their calls will not be ignored,” said Diehl.

Veterans for Diehl will be spearheaded by three distinguished veterans: Rep. David DeCoste former U.S. Army Major, Selectman Denny Drewy former U.S. Army Major and VAV Board of Directors member John MacDonald a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

“Supporting our veterans requires more than just photo ops at the VA. Unlike Senator Warren, Geoff Diehl understands that, rolling up your sleeves, digging in, listening, demanding action and accountability is what serving as Senator is about. He has a long track record of fighting for veterans. Veterans need passionate advocates and that’s why we need to send Geoff Diehl to Washington DC. That is why I enthusiastically support Geoff Diehl and why I am proud to lend my name and reputation as a veteran and veterans’ advocate to ‘Veterans for Geoff Diehl,’” said MacDonald.

Rep. DeCoste is a 22 year veteran of the United States Army where he earned the rank of major. In the Massachusetts House of Representatives, he serves the people of Norwell, Hanover and Rockland.
