New Bedford, MA…Today Representative Geoff Diehl, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate, announced that he has received the endorsement of former Governor’s Councilor Dr. David Constantine (Formally-D-New Bedford).
“I am so pleased that Dr. Constantine has crossed the aisle to endorse my candidacy for the United States Senate. He is a great leader for the First District and proudly served the surrounding communities in the State Senate. He always puts the people first and has made a positive difference in so many lives. His strong support will help us win New Bedford and the surrounding communities,” said Diehl.
“I am very impressed by Geoff Diehl. He has shown a great commitment to New Bedford and our issues. He has had the courage of his convictions and I trust that he will deliver for our community.
We both share the same voice for family values, and the return to morality in our great country today.
I am pleased and honored to endorse Geoff Diehl for United States Senate,” said Constantine.
Dr. Constantine is a lifelong Democrat and a former ex-officio member of the Massachusetts Democratic Party. He was elected to the Governor’s Council in 1992 and served for eight years. For 37 years, Constantine was a Oral Maxillofacial surgeon, helping thousands of New Bedford residents.
Diehl has traveled regularly to New Bedford. He has met with members of the fishing industry and developed a plan to revive the industry. Last week Diehl spoke at the South Coast Chamber of Commerce.
As the next U.S. Senator, Diehl plans to use his RV as a mobile office so area residents don’t have to travel to Boston to see their Senator.
“We need a Senator who will stand up for the hard-working people of Massachusetts and focus on growing our economy. While Senator Warren has focused on putting money in herwallet selling books, I have focused on putting money into yourwallet,” added Diehl.
“Massachusetts is too great for a part-time Senator. We need a Senator who will focus on the citizens of the Commonwealth,” said Diehl. “From the time you wake up in the morning and until you go to bed in the evening you should be working to help the people of Massachusetts. I think people should come first ahead of oneself. Our Senator needs to do their job by putting you first!”
Diehl won the Republican convention by a thirty-point margin and the Primary by 29 points. He has been earning many endorsements including: Representatives David DeCoste, Marc Lombardo, Jim Lyons, Shaunna O’Connell, Lenny Mirra and Peter Durant, Senator Bob Hedlund, Youth Conservatives of Massachusetts, former New England Patriots Fred Smerlas, Steve Grogan, and Matt Light, Red Sox Champion Curt Schilling, comedian Lenny Clarke and broadcaster John Dennis, to name a few. Diehl was the first candidate to receive a major law enforcement endorsement. The Norfolk County Correction Officers and Everett Patrolmen’s Association have thrown their weight behind Diehl.
